Deakin University’s Science of Adult Relationships (SoAR) Laboratory are looking for individuals to take part in an 8-week online longitudinal study about the ups and downs in romantic relationships.

Complete one survey per week for 8 weeks

and

Receive tips for improving your relationship written by psychologists and experts in relationship research

Detailed Study Information

This study is another initiative of Deakin University’s SoAR Lab.

You and everyone else will be completing the surveys on the same day at roughly the same time! The study will launch on two dates.

The first will be on Wednesday 9th June 2021. If you have registered before June 9th you will commence the study on June 9th.

The second date will be Wednesday June 16th. If you registered on or after June 9th, you will commence the study on June 16th.

What will I be asked?

The survey questions will ask you about a range of topics including pornography use, stress, relationship quality, positive and negative relationship behaviours and conflict. We are interested in seeing how these things vary or remain stable over time.

What does the study involve?

You will be asked to complete a short survey once per week for 8 consecutive weeks. The first survey will take you approximately 20 minutes to complete and the remaining surveys will take about 15 minutes.

Who can participate?

We are seeking 500 individuals to take part in this study. To take part you must be:

  1. Over the age of 18,

  2. Currently in a romantic relationship of at least 6-months duration,

  3. Fluent in English language, and

  4. Not currently subject to any criminal proceedings.

We are interested in hearing from a wide range of people and relationship experiences.

How to participate?

Click the Participate Now button to sign up and find out if you are eligible to be involved in this study.

All you need is an email address and access to the internet to complete the survey.

We ask for your email address so that we can send you the link to the survey each week. Your contact details will be kept secure and confidential. On your launch date (June 9th 2021 or June 16th 2021 [depending on when you signed up]), you will receive an email from us with a link to the first survey. A week later, we will email you the link to the second survey, and so on, for 8 weeks.
